Home of the little viking dog!
We invite you to learn more about this wonderful breed as you browse our site.
KingsCrest is a small kennel where our dogs are part of the family. Our desire is to promote and preserve this wonderful breed, and we strive to keep sound temperaments and working ability in the puppies we produce.
We love to answer questions and share our growing knowledge about the SV with others. If you would like to learn more about the Swedish Vallhund or are interested in finding a puppy, please contact us and we will be happy to try to help you.
The Swedish Vallhund is a small, powerful, sturdily built Spitz herding dog. The correct relationship of height to length of body is 2:3. They have a wedge-shaped head, prick ears, and a close-fitting hard coat of medium length and sable coloring. The double coat and the characteristic "harness markings" are essential features of this breed. The tail may be natural (long, stub, or bob) or docked.
The SV is watchful, lively, inquisitive, intelligent and loyal. He is agile, fast, and eager to please and does well with training methods that use positive reinforcements. They excel in many dog performance sports, such as agility, obedience, rally, and flyball. Most SVs have the herding instinct and are still used on ranches and farms to move livestock. Because the SV is so versatile and teachable, they have been certified as therapy dogs and in search and rescue. Best of all, Swedish Vallhunds are great all around pets and companions that love to be involved with you and your family.
